Spangles

Rock 'N' Roll Series

Mars introduced Spangles in 1948, becoming one of the swinging flavours of the 1950s and 1960s

Spangles : Small tubes of individually wrapped sweets, they were available in various flavours - blackcurrant, strawberry, barley sugar, Old English (whatever were those supposed to taste like?) and a mixed fruit pack which for years contained one in a white wrapper covered in question marks which was the "Mystery flavour". Eventually the question marks were replaced by little cocktail glasses, but I've never yet had a cocktail that tasted like a Spangle.

Australia _ Melbourne

One of my colleague send me this postcard during her travel to Australia ~ Melbourne.

As quoted in the postcard
"The city comes alive at night. It's landmarks include Flinders Street Station, The Victorian Arts Centre Spire, Crown Tower.
@ Scancolor Australia "

I've never been to this country before. But luckily with the help of internet. I can read more about the places.

See what I have find out

Flinders Street Station is among Melbourne's most recognisable landmarks and is the oldest station in Australia (1910) although the first station on this site opened in 1854!It is the best-known railway station in Australia. The design was selected by an architectural competition held in 1902, and the red brick and golden cream stucco building was constructed between 1905 and 1910. After more than 95 years of serving the community, any building would be in need of a revamp. Therefore, Flinders Street Station is undergoing a $10 million upgrade to ensure the building remains a structure of which all Victorians can be proud. The upgrade involves a two-year capital works program to improve the station's facilities, make it more accessible and enhance its visual appeal.

Victoria Arts Centre Spire located in the heart of Melbourne's leisure and entertainment precinct. The tower remind me about the Eiffel Tower in Paris :)

Crown Tower is
located on the southern bank of the Yarra River in Melbourne, Crown Towers sets the benchmark for luxury hotels in Australia.

China_One World One Dream

I'm so impressed with the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics 080808.

Especially the Giant Footsteps embark in the dark sky.

On the night of August 8, 2008, the sound of heavy footsteps thundered across the "Bird's Nest" as colossal burning "footprints" marched in the sky along Beijing's central axis all the way through the Olympic Green to the National Stadium. As the last "footprint" lit up the sky above the National Stadium, spectators all over the world began a virtual tour of Chinese culture; what they saw was ancient China and young China, a nation wishing to build a harmonious home together with friends from all parts of the world.

Malaysia_Rubber tapping

Malaysia is one of the Rubber exporter country.

Rubber tapping is the process by which rubber is gathered. An incision is made in the bark of a rubber tree, which cuts through the latex vessels that flow between the bark and the cambium. The latex then drips into a vessel.

Each night a rubber tapper must remove a thin layer of bark along a downward half spiral on the tree trunk. If done carefully and with skill, this tapping panel will yield latex (white liquid) for up to 5 years. Then the opposite side will be tapped allowing this side to heal over. The spiral allows the latex to run down to a collecting cup. The work is done at night so the latex will drip longer before coagulating and sealing the cut.

The collection of latex is carried out before sunrise in order to prevent the latex become harden (high temperature).

Depending on the final product, additional chemicals can be added to the latex cup in order to preserve the latex for longer. Ammonia solution helps prevent natural coagulation and allows the latex to remain in its liquid state. This form of latex is used as the raw material for latex concentrate, which is used for dipped rubber products or for the manufacture of Ribbed Smoke Sheet grades.
