The plateau was discovered by one William Cameron in 1885. He described it as " a fine plateau with gentle slopes shut in by lofty mountains". However, only in 1925 was the decision made to have the area developed as a hill station. Thus, Cameron Highlands appeared on the map of those who seek an extraordinary hideaway. Cameron Highlands enjoys a sub temperate climate of 21 Celsius during the day a cool 15 Celsius at night.
