Russian Federation Emblem

Coat of arms of the Russian Federation

The two main elements of Russian state symbols
(the two-headed eagle and the mounted figure slaying the dragon)
predate Peter the Great.

The current coat of arms was adopted officially on November 30, 1993.
The imperial crowns on each head stand for the unity and sovereignty of Russia
both as a whole and in its constituent republics and regions.
The orb and scepter grasped in the eagle's toes are traditional
heraldic symbols of sovereign power and authority.

Thanks to Tatiana from Kazan , Russia for this postcard.

Kizhi Wooden Church, Russia

Thank you to Vladko sending me this amazing postcard from Russia.
Not to forget also the Vladko's neat writing,
Gorgeous stamps and the lovely masking tape pasted.

Kizhi is an island on Lake Onega in the Republic of Karelia, Russia.
There are dozens of historical wooden buildings build during the 1950s.
Kizhi Pogost is one of the most famous (out of 80+) historical wooden structures.

The Kizhi Pogost enclosure holds two wooden churches and an octagonal
bell tower built during the 18th-century.
The Church of the Transfiguration was intended for use only during the
summer as the church has no heating, and winter in Russia is terribly bitter.
It was not uncommon in Russia to have paired churches, for summer and winter.

Street of George Town

This is one of my favorite postcard.

The organised chaos on the street of George Town, the capital of
Penang Island from those days.

The projected signboard is a way to attract the customers from far.
